The
graduate teacher education programs lead to initial and/or
professional certification. (Former titles were provisional
and/or permanent certification.)
In collaboration with
the New York City Department of Education, individuals may obtain
Internship Certificates, which permit individuals to teach for up to
two years while completing degree programs. Obtaining an
Internship Certificate requires that:
-
an
individual has completed half of the courses required for the
degree with a grade-point average higher than 3.0;
-
is
recommended by his/her program advisor, and
-
can
provide written proof of having received a job offer from a school
contingent upon receiving the Internship Certificate.
The program requirements are established by
the New York State Board of Regents and the New York State
Education Department, and are subject to change. All students
should consult with the School of Education for the current
requirements.
