The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE ) is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the accrediting body for colleges and universities that prepare teachers and other school personnel for work in elementary and secondary schools. Through its peer review process, NCATE ensures that accredited institutions produce competent, caring, and qualified teachers and other professional school personnel who can help all students achieve. The NCATE accreditation process determines whether schools, colleges, and departments of education meet demanding standards for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel.

The School of Education at Brooklyn College received NCATE accreditation in 2005. It will have its re-accreditation visit in April 2010 to ensure that the School of Education remains current, relevant, and productive, and that graduates of its programs are able to have a positive impact on P-12 student learning.  We invite interested parties to submit third-party comments for review by the visiting team. Please note that comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of professional education programs offered, and should specify the party's relationship to the institution (i.e., graduate, present or former faculty member, employer of graduates).

Please send comments about the School of Education’s programs directly to NCATE:
